Abstract: Come possono le donne austriache e tedesche gestire il passato nazista delle proprie famiglie? Da sempre i discendenti delle vittime e dei sopravvissuti hanno fatto i conti con le conseguenze del nazionalsocialismo e dell'olocausto. Anche i discendenti dei perpetratori hanno iniziato ad esaminare le ombre che questo passato getta anche sulle più innocenti delle vite quotidiane. Riesaminare il passato nazista della propria famiglia è un processo complesso, significa fare i conti con una "eredità negativa", come l'ha definita Jean Amery. Le influenze di questa eredità sono tante, talvolta approssimativamente nascoste sotto il tappeto. Le architetture degli anni '50, '60, '70, '80, '90 e 2000 di Vienna sono le location del film.
How can Austrian and German women deal with their families' Nazi past? Descendants of victims and survivors have always had to deal with the consequences of National Socialism and the Holocaust. The descendants of the perpetrators have also begun to examine the shadows that this past casts on even the most innocent of daily lives. Re-examining one's own family's Nazi past is a complex process; it means coming to terms with a 'negative legacy', as Jean Amery has called it. The influences of this legacy are many, sometimes roughly swept under the carpet. The architecture of Vienna in the 1950s, 1960s, 1970s, 1980s, 1990s and 2000s are the film's locations.
