Abstract: Nel 1945 un incontro mancato divide in due una famiglia. La nonna della regista decide di allontanarsi dal luogo della persecuzione e dello sterminio di massa per dirigersi verso il nuovo Stato ebraico, mentre suo fratello Feiv'ke sceglie di cambiare nome e di restare nel paese che lo ha perseguitato nonostante vi fosse nato. Seguendo le scelte di un fratello e di una sorella, la regista si ritrova in un viaggio tra Israele e la Germania orientale, tra passato e presente, tra vittime e carnefici. Quali domande troveranno risposta a 63 anni da quella separazione?
In 1945, a missed meeting splits a family in two. The filmmaker's grandmother decides to move away from the place of persecution and mass extermination and head for the new Jewish state, while her brother Feiv'ke chooses to change his name and remain in the country that persecuted him even though he was born there. Following the choices of a brother and a sister, the director finds herself on a journey between Israel and East Germany, between past and present, between victims and executioners. What questions will be answered 63 years after that separation?
