"Freedom Riders" is the powerful, harrowing and inspiring story of the eight months in the year1961 that changed America forever. From May to December 1961, more than 400 black and white Americans risked their lives - enduring beatings and imprisonment - to travel together on buses through the Deep South. Deliberately violating the "Jim Crow" law, the Freedom Riders' belief in non-violence led the US President and the American public to attempt to correct the civil rights inequalities that plagued the nation.
