Abstract: Denis Goldberg è stato un attivista sociale sudafricano, attivo nella lotta contro l'apartheid fu imprigionato insieme ad altri membri chiave del movimento anti-apartheid. Nel 1948, si unì ad altri importanti membri bianchi per formare il Congresso dei Democratici, di cui divenne leader. Questo a sua volta si alleò con l'African National Congress e altri congressi non razziali nella Congress Alliance. Fu arrestato nel 1960 e passò quattro mesi in prigione senza processo. Quando il braccio armato clandestino, Umkhonto we Sizwe fu fondato nel 1961, Goldberg divenne ufficiale tecnico. Nel 1963 fu arrestato nella sede di Rivonia del loro esercito. Denis Goldberg was a South African social activist who was active in the anti-apartheid struggle and was imprisoned along with other key members of the anti-apartheid movement. In 1948, he joined with other prominent white members to form the Congress of Democrats, of which he became leader. This in turn allied with the African National Congress and other non-racial congresses in the Congress Alliance. He was arrested in 1960 and spent four months in prison without trial. When the underground armed wing, Umkhonto we Sizwe was founded in 1961, Goldberg became a technical officer. In 1963 he was arrested at the Rivonia headquarters of their army. He was sentenced in 1964 at the end of the famous Rivonia Trial to four life sentences. He was the only white member of Umkhonto we Sizwe to be arrested and sentenced to life imprisonment in the Rivonia Trial.
