Abstract: Calle de la Pietà è la cronaca reale e immaginaria dell’ultimo giorno di vita di Tiziano Vecellio, ventiquattr’ore tra il mattino del 26 agosto 1576 e il mattino successivo, e dell’ultimo quadro da lui dipinto, la Pietà. Più che un racconto, il film è una riflessione, nella quale la realtà di oggi evoca quella di allora, sull’esistenza e sulla funzione dell’arte che non è altro che il desiderio di cogliere il segreto del mondo, di possederlo ma soprattutto di dominarlo, attraverso la capacità di manipolare il tempo.
Calle de la Pietà is the real and imaginary chronicle of the last day of Titian Vecellio's life, twenty-four hours between the morning of 26 August 1576 and the following morning, and of the last painting he did, the Pietà. More than a story, the film is a reflection, in which the reality of today evokes that of then, on the existence and function of art, which is nothing other than the desire to grasp the secret of the world, to possess it but above all to dominate it, through the ability to manipulate time.
